REQUIREMENT FOR PRINCIPAL AND VICE PRINCIPAL

This section outlines the required qualifications for applying to be a school leader.

Applicant for the position of principals must:

Be a Sierra Leonean or be a non-Sierra Leonean with a work permit and participate in the required recruitment process.
Have a degree in education or a degree and a diploma in education for SSS (for JSS minimum requirement is HTC-Secondary)
Have at least eight years post –graduate teaching experience, four of which must have been spent as senior teacher or head of Department or both in a Government assisted secondary school
Have foundational information technology (IT) Skill including:
How to use a computer, including managing files and basic programs and accessing the internet
How to use email, including having an email address
How to type and use digital Word document
How to set up a spreadsheet and use basic formulas, such as addition and subtraction

Applicants for the position of vice principal, must:

Be a Sierra Leonean, or a non –sierra Leonean with a work permit and participate in the required recur
itment process.
Have a HTC-secondary or a degree in education or a degree and a diploma in education
Have at least eight years post-graduate teaching experience, four of which must have been spent as senior teacher or head of department or both in a government assisted secondary school
Have foundational information technology (IT) skills, including:
How to use a computer, including managing files and basic programs and accessing the internet
How to use email, including having an email address
How to type and use a digital word document
How to set up a spreadsheet and use basic formulas, such as addition and subtraction

TAKING UP POST AND RENUMERATION

If successful, the applicant will assume the post of principal or vice principal in the following September.

The individual will not serve as acting or interim principal or vice principal unless they were doing so before formally accepting the position. The salary for principal and vice principal position is in accordance with the current job grade and scales of revised salary structure for teachers in Sierra Leone teaching service.
